KOTAMON Audiotapes — All 7 & the 6/7 Counter Issue
Collecting all seven
- Tapes are pure trash-pile luck — clear heaps and they come. RNG means a dry stretch is normal.
- Play them on the boombox: the radio achievement needs a tape inserted first.
- Same loop, same rewards: watch for figurines and cereal boxes while you farm.
The reported 6/7 problem
Some players reach a displayed 6 of 7 and stall, with the shelf display and the achievement counter disagreeing. Reports say another physical pickup eventually resolved the final unlock — treat that as anecdote, not mechanics. Protect yourself the boring way:
- Note your current count before each session.
- Keep one untouched good save; use a separate manual slot for testing.
- After each new tape, compare the shelf, the counter and the Steam popup.

Audiotape FAQ
Where do audiotapes drop?
Randomly from trash piles while you clean — there is no fixed location list. Your first tape is handed to you at the start, next to the garage boombox.
I am stuck at 6 of 7 tapes — is it bugged?
Players have reported the displayed count and the achievement counter disagreeing. Some report one more physical pickup resolved it. That is a player report, not an official rule — do not delete or overwrite your only good save to test it; keep a separate manual save and record what the counter shows after each pickup.
What do tapes actually do?
They play music on the garage boombox — switching the radio on with a tape inserted is the "Wow, It Works?" achievement.
